Box Score RENO, Nev. – The Nevada volleyball team fell in its first match of the 2020-21 season, losing in four sets to the New Mexico Lobos at the Virginia Street Gym.
The two teams will meet again on Saturday at noon. A live stream is available at NevadaWolfPack.TV. Nevada is 0-1 on the young season while New Mexico is 1-0.
The Pack stormed from behind to force a lengthy first set in which Nevada prevailed, 34-32. But the Lobos came back to win sets two and three – 25-21 and 25-23, respectively – to take control of the match. New Mexico closed it out with a 25-20 win in the fourth set.
Freshman Reke Monteleone led the Pack with 17 kills while
Brianna Souza added 14 and
Kassie McGill registered 11.
Kaila Spevak led the way with 23 digs. McGill and teammate
Sydney Petersen each recorded a match-high five blocks.
Kali Wolf led the Lobos with 28 kills.
