Wilner adds transfer Vidal to 2021-22 roster

RENO, Nev. – Nevada men's golf coach Jacob Wilner has signed graduate transfer Quim Vidal to the Wolf Pack's roster for 2021-22.

"We are very excited to add Quim for next season," said Wilner. "His experience in college golf is going to help our program immediately. Having a fifth year in college golf will also benefit him before he turns pro at the end of the season."

Vidal, a native of Barcelona, Spain, spent four years at Jacksonville State and will transfer to the Wolf Pack with one year of eligibility remaining thanks to the NCAA's eligibility extension after the 2020 season was canceled.

Vidal, who is currently still enrolled at Jacksonville State, holds a World Golf Amateur Ranking of 355 and has compiled a career scoring average of 72.5 in his four seasons with the Gamecocks. He was named to the Ohio Valley Conference All-Newcomer team and the OVC All-Tournament team during his freshman season. During his rookie season he played in 11 events, including the NCAA Kissimmee Regional, and posted a tie for third place at the OVC Championship.

Vidal enjoyed his best season at JSU in 2019-20 where he was named All-Ohio Valley Conference and went 74-2 against OVC opposition and held the league's third-best national ranking. His 71.13 stroke average was the third-best in a season in school history and helped him to two OVC Golfer of the Week honors. He had three top-10 finishes, led by third-place at the Golfweek Program Championship. Additionally he has been a part of two Ohio Valley Conference Championships while with the Gamecocks and participated in two NCAA Regionals.

In August of 2020, Vidal competed in the U.S. Amateur for the first time in his career.
