LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Nevada women's golf team wrapped up its first competition of the 2021 season with a 12
th place finish at The Rebel Beach.
On Tuesday all teams concluded the second round of play, which had been suspended due to darkness Monday evening, before playing the event's final round this afternoon. The Wolf Pack finished in 12
th in the 13-team field after putting together team scores of 301-310-317 for the tournament to finish at 64-over par. Tulsa won the team portion of the event at 23-over par, besting runner-up Fresno State by two strokes.
Individually for Nevada junior
Victoria Gailey led the way with a top 25 finish. Gailey shot rounds of 71-75-80 to tie for 21
st place at 10-over in the 74-player field. Sophomore
Leah John tied for 40
th at 15-over, while fellow sophomore
Anitra Khoth finished at 17-over and tied for 51
st. Freshman
Kathleen Keomahavong and sophomore
Kaitlin Fleiner, who were both making their collegiate tournament debuts this week, finished in 63
rd and 74
th, respectively.
Fresno State's Brigitte Thibault claimed individual medalist honors as the only player in the field to finish the tournament under par. Thibault was 5-under par for the event, five shots better than the runner-up.
Nevada will return to action at the Gunrock Invitational March 1-3 at Del Paso Country Club in Sacramento, Calif.
