Pack to play host to three-time defending MW champion CSU

Nevada is back in action after season-opening setback to New Mexico

RENO, Nev. – The Nevada volleyball team resumes the 2020-21 season this weekend as it plays host to Mountain West foe Colorado State at 6 p.m. on Friday night and again at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Capacity is limited to player and coach guests only due to campus, local and state COVID-19 protocols. The matches will be played at the Virginia Street Gym on campus and a live stream is available on the Mountain West Network.

Nevada is coming off a sweep at the hands of New Mexico to open the season. Sixth-year head coach Lee Nelson was encouraged by the play of his young team in the opening weekend as the Pack took a set in each match and was two points away from pushing the second match to a fifth set.

Freshman outside hitter Reka Monteleone led the way with 35 kills in the first two matches. Kassie McGill registered 26 and Briana Souza added 24.

The Wolf Pack does not have great history against the Rams. Colorado State won both matches last year and has won 14 straight against Nevada. The Wolf Pack is 1-16 all-time versus CSU.

This is the second of three straight weeks at home to open the modified season, with teams playing each other back to back. Nevada will play host to Air Force next weekend before spending three of the following four weeks on the road.
