PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – The No. 33 nationally-ranked Nevada men's golf team charged up the leaderboard nine spots during the second round to finish tied for third with a three-under score at the Saint Mary's Invitational Tuesday.
Quim Vidal Mora shot a season and career-best 65 (-6) to climb to the top of the player leaderboard at seven-under on day two of the event. Vidal Mora recorded only one bogey and dominated the course with five birdies and one eagle on 18 to close out a four-under back-nine today.
Nevada climbs into third with a three-under (279) during the second 18 holes of play. Stanford leads the field at 19 under, Oregon is second at 12-under, and San Francisco is tied with the Wolf Pack for third at three-under. BYU rounds out the top-five with a two-under marking.
Peyton Callens shot a two-under (69) today to gain two shots but enters the clubhouse after moving day at even-par. Callens posted a one-under front nine with a birdie on four and made up ground after a pair of bogeys on 13 and 15 with birdies on 12, 14, and 18 to finish his round two-under.
A.J. Lintunen is tied for 30
th at one-over for the two rounds and posted an even-par 71 today.
Trey Davis is tied for 43
rd at three-over.
Connor Motherway is tied for 94
th at 11-over.
The Pack has a knack for coming back after rallying from 17 shots down to win the Husky Invitational on Sep. 21Â and looks to recreate that magic during the final round of the Saint Mary's Invitational tomorrow. The third and final round gets underway with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
