RENO, NEV. – After a successful weekend against the New Mexico Lobos and San Diego State Aztecs, freshman Emily Rich has been named the Mountain West Offensive and Co-Freshman player of the Week.
In the game against the Lobos, the freshman played 98 minutes out of the 110 total minutes of the double overtime matchup. In this game, Rich had one shot for a goal. This goal not only helping them finish the tie against the Lobos, but would also be Rich's third goal of the season. Her first two goals came against the Wolf Pack's win against the Air Force Falcons. This tie against the Lobos was the first time the Pack has either tied or beaten the Lobos since 2006.
The next matchup would see Rich step up in another big way. Down two goals to the Aztecs in the second half, the Pack would come back to win that matchup 3-2. Rich, while not taking any shots, would earn two assists out of the three goals scored in the Pack's victory. One of those assists being the game winner. This win against the Aztecs would be the first in school history.
Currently on the year, Rich has three assists, three goals, and nine shots on the year. Her and the Nevada soccer team will look to keep up their momentum and head on the road for their final two road conference matchups this weekend.
