RENO, Nev. – The Nevada track and field team will compete in its first meet of the 2021 indoor season starting tomorrow through Saturday.
After almost a year without indoor competition, the Nevada track and field team will compete in Colorado Springs at the Air Force Invitational. This meet will only see five Wolf Pack student-athletes competing in different events throughout the three days. The student-athletes competing this week will include senior Nicola Ader, senior Emma Dern, junior Hanah Smrt, junior Gabby Fraser, and freshman Alisha Pawlowski.
On Thursday, Ader, Smrt, and Pawlowski will compete in the pentathlon. It will include the 60 meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump, and the 800m run. These events will start with the 60m hurdles at 11:15 a.m. and will finish up with the 800m run at 5:30 p.m. Nicola Ader currently is 4th all-time at Nevada in the pentathlon with a score of 3,894 pts. This will be Alisha Pawlowski's first meet with the Wolf Pack.
Friday will only see two student-athletes compete, as Emma Dern competes in the weight throw and Gabby Fraser competes in the long jump. Dern's personal best in the weight throw is 12.95m. Fraser has a personal best of 5.39m in the long jump. The weight throw will start at 8:00 a.m. while the long jump will start at 12:30 p.m.
Saturday will see all five student-athletes compete one final time. At 9:00 a.m., Nicola Ader, Hanah Smrt, and Alisha Pawlowski will compete in the high jump. Ader currently ties the school record with a height of 1.83m. At 10:30 a.m., Emma Dern will compete in the shot put which she holds a personal best of 12.88m. Lastly at 12:30 p.m, Gabby Fraser will compete in the triple jump where she ranks 9th all-time at Nevada with a distance of 11.91m.
