RENO, Nev. – After what seemed like a long summer, the Wolf Pack have gone and added tons of new athletes to an already talented roster.
Luisa Fischer from Miltach, Germany has decided to take her talents to Nevada after she graduates this school year. Fischer mainly focuses on the heptathlon, her personal best being 5,047 points. Fischer has had lots of success in the high jump and javelin events to be specific. In the Federal State Championships in Bavaria, Germany, Fischer finished first in both the heptathlon (4,919 pts) and the long jump (5.58m) last year.
Alisha Pawlowski is another German-native, from the town of Tuttlingen. Pawlowski and Fischer will now be the fourth and fifth Wolf Pack track & field athlete from Germany. Pawlowski specializes in the high jump event and has a personal best of 1.78 meters.
Summer Steinsrud is the third member of the newcomer class to be from outside of the country. A hurdle-runner from Norway, Streinsrud's personal best time of 14.53 in the 100m hurdles is only .28 seconds slower than Agnese Mulatero's 10th Nevada all-time placement. She also holds a personal best of 63.06 in the 400m hurdles. The Norway native also competed in the 200m and 400m dashes for both outdoor and indoor events.
Another newcomer that will join the team is Kylie Burton, a mid-distance runner from Antelope, Calif. Burton and junior Brooke Carson are the only two on the roster that are from Antelope, Calif. and have attended Antelope High School. Her top times are 56:49 in the 400-meter, 2:16.36 in the 800-meter, and 44.43 in the 300-meter hurdles.
Lillian Gregg is another mid-distance runner joining the Pack. Gregg is from Roseville, Calif. and attended Woodcreek High School which makes her the only athlete on the Pack to be from Roseville. Gregg has a lot of experience during her time in High School which includes personal bests of 26.04 in the 200m dash, 56.60 in the 400m dash, and a time of 2:23.70 in the 800m.
Maya Aiyuk is one of the first Reno-natives to join the Pack in this class. Aiyuk attended McQueen High School and focused primarily on the triple jump. She was fourth at the Nevada state meet in class 4A for the triple jump. She has a personal best of 37'1.75" or 11.32m. She is also the sister of Brandon Aiyuk who was recently drafted 25th overall by the 49ers in the 2020 NFL draft.
Meleeah Holmes-McKown is the first primary thrower to join the list of newcomers. From Douglas High School in the small Nevada town of Minden, McKown threw the shot and discus in high school. She was fourth at the Nevada state meet in the discus and has a personal best of 38'1" (11.6m) in shot put and 124'6" (37.95m) in discus.
Samantha Irwin is the first pole-vaulter in the class of newcomers. Irwin attended Sacred Heart Cathedral High School in San Francisco. She earned a personal best of 10'3" (3.12m) during her high school career.
The members of this class will join the team in the spring of 2021.
