RENO, Nev. – The Wolf Pack athletics department has launched the Nevada Football Alumni Nutrition Challenge to help raise funds to meet the nutritional needs of the football program.
The campaign, which launched Monday, March 2nd, will run through Friday, April 24, the day before the annual Silver and Blue Spring Game on campus in Mackay Stadium. The goal is to raise $50,000 for nutritional needs of the program and the campaign was launched with matching gifts available from the Football Alumni Association as well as Keith ('65) and Gloria Lee.
A $10,000 gift from the Lees will be matched at a 2:1 level. For every $2 donated to the campaign, $1 will be unlocked from their matching gift.
A $10,000 gift from the Football Alumni Association will be used as a participation challenge, with $1,000 being unlocked for every 15 football alumni who make a gift to the effort.
The goal of the program is to provide nutrition education and quality calories to help our student-athlete reach peak performance in training, competition and in the classroom. This program helps pay for additional protein, fruits and vegetables, hard-boiled eggs, jerky, and other nutritional elements. The current level of nutrition programming is education through a partnership with the University of Nevada School of Medicine and post-workout smoothies to our student-athletes.
Class captains representing five-year periods of Wolf Pack football dating back to 1960 have been established to lead the charge of the campaign. Donations are available from the public as well. To donate online, visit:
