ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – During the final day of the Mountain West Indoor Championship, the Wolf Pack, which finished eighth in the championship, saw new all-time records broken in multiple events throughout the day.
Before the final day started, conversions were finalized from yesterday's 5000m run. It was determined that all three Pack members competing in the event made it on the Nevada all-time list.
Junior Hiley Dobbs moved to second all-time at Nevada with her time of 16:51.15. Sophomore Lauryn Massic ends up at seventh all-time with a time of 17:29.18. Lastly, sophomore Alexis Melendrez earns her spot at eighth with her time of 17:29.39.
Junior Karoline Sauer's time of 54.48 in the 400m dash finals was not only good enough for a fourth place overall finish, but also good to beat the school record. Sauer, who already was second all-time at Nevada in the event, beat out former Pack member Renee Manfredi's time of 54.78 to put her at the top. Her finals time also earned her five team points for the Wolf Pack.
Also competing in the event was junior Lauren Green, who finished sixth overall with her time of 55.32. She increased her Nevada fifth place all-time record that she set yesterday in the qualifier with her time of 55.83. Green's finish earned the Wolf Pack three team points.
Junior Nicola Ader started off the day right with a first place overall finish in the high jump. The junior beat out her competition and tried to keep going in her attempts at a height of 1.85m. Unfortunately, she was unsuccessful and ended up with a height of 1.81m. The height earned her a gold medal and the Pack 10 team points. Ader has a chance to compete in the NCAA Indoor Championship in the high jump if she ranks in the top-16, which the junior did last season.
Sophomore Gabby Fraser finished 11th overall in the triple jump with her distance of 11.91m. This distance moved her up in the Nevada all-time list to ninth. The sophomore was 10th at Nevada but passed up Brooke Wilson and her distance of 11.86m.
In the 60m hurdles finals, junior Agnese Mulatero finished in seventh with her time of 8.71. This time was only 0.03 slower than her eighth ranked Nevada all-time placement. The time earned the Pack two team points for the championship. Sophomore Emily Costello finished in eighth with her time of 24.33. That time earned the Pack one team point. In the 3000m run, junior Carli Corpus finished 25th with a time of 10:22.42, just a couple seconds slower than her personal best.
The Pack also saw success in its field events from a couple seniors. Gaby Palmer finished fourth with her height of 3.95m. The height also gave the Pack four and a half team points. Brandi French finished eighth in the shot put with her distance of 14.33. That earned the Pack one team point.
The last event of the day saw the Nevada 4x400m relay team finish in seventh. The team that consisted of junior Karoline Sauer, junior Lauren Green, junior Eliza McCall, and junior Brooke Carson earned a time of 3:48.49.
The 2020 outdoor track and field season will kick off March 13 when the Wolf Pack competes in the Aggie Open.
