COEUR d'ALENE, Idaho – After 36 holes of the Coeur d'Alene Collegiate Invitational, the Nevada women's golf team is tied for second place in the 16-team field.
The Wolf Pack posted team rounds of 291 and 292 on Monday and is tied with Idaho at 15-over for the tournament. Nevada will need a big final round, and some help, if it wants to catch tournament-host and leader Gonzaga tomorrow. The Bulldogs lead the field by 12 shots heading into Tuesday's final 18 holes.
Leading the way for Nevada in the first two rounds was senior
Katy Rutherford. Rutherford will enter the final round in a tie for third place, just three shots behind Jessica Mangrobang of Gonzaga for the individual lead. She fired rounds of 72 in the morning and tied her career-low of 71 in the afternoon to sit at 1-over for the tournament. Rutherford totaled seven birdies in her 36 holes of golf today, including five in the second round.
Also inside the top 10 for the Pack is sophomore
Danni Ujimori, who tied her career-low round of 69 in the opening round. She made four birdies in that round to just two bogeys. In the afternoon session, Ujimori shot a 4-over 75, but did make the first eagle of her career on the par 5 15
th. She is 2-over for the event, just four shots back of the individual lead in a tie for seventh.
Freshman
Leah John is currently tied for 33
rd after posting rounds of 76 and 73 on the day. Her second round 73 marks a season-best. She led the Wolf Pack with 25 pars during the two rounds. Sophomore
Victoria Gailey is right behind John in a tie for 39
th at 8-over for the tournament. Gailey carded rounds of 74 and 76 on Monday. Senior
Jenny Krause rounds out the list of Pack golfers in a tie for 52
nd at 9-over par. Krause carded a 78 in round one, but rebounded nicely with a 2-over 73 in round two.
