Students invited for Kickoff Cookout with Nevada Football

Running of the Wolves scheduled for Aug. 30 before the opener against Purdue

RENO, Nev. – The Nevada football team will be providing free food for all University students at the team's Kickoff Cookout in front of the Joe Crowley Student Union on Saturday afternoon.

The Kickoff Cookout runs from 12 to 2 p.m. on Saturday and kicks off the season opener for the Wolf Pack as Nevada plays host to Purdue on Friday, Aug. 30 under the lights at Mackay Stadium. The cookout event is open to all University student and the Wolf Pack football players and coaches will be on hand to serve food and hang out with students for the afternoon.

The season opener brings with it the annual Running of the Wolves event for freshman at the University. Since 2012, the Running of the Wolves has become a unique tradition at Nevada. This year all the students who are running will be receiving a blue shirt to fit with the stripe out Mackay theme, making them silver and blue for life.  

All first-year Nevada students are invited to participate in the Running of the Wolves. Participants, with a valid student ID, will lead the football team out onto the field and run from the southwest corner of the end zone and finish at the northeast corner.
 
Students who are participating are asked to lineup 90 minutes prior to kickoff at the statue of the wolves at the main gate inside Mackay Stadium, across from Legacy Hall. Free t-shirts will be distributed at that location. Participants are asked to not wear flip flops or bring selfie sticks.

The season begins in just over two weeks when Nevada plays host to Purdue on Friday, Aug. 30. Season ticket for the 2019 season are available for as low as $99 and three-game mini-plan packages are also on sale now for as low as $42. Single-game tickets for all six home games are also available now with prices as low as $17 per game, with discounts available for children and seniors.
