COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State has been selected as the preseason favorite to capture the 2019 Mountain West
Women's Soccer Championship as voted on by the league's 12 head coaches. The Broncos, who sit atop the Conference's
preseason coaches' poll for the first time in program history, earned four first-place votes and 109 points overall.
Boise State returns 21 letterwinners from last year's squad that brought home a piece of the 2018 regular season title. Among the
veterans is two-time MW Offensive Player of the Year Raimee Sherle, who has been named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch
List ahead of this year. Last season, Sherle was the Broncos leading goal scorer, sending 20 shots to the back of the net, which set
the Mountain West and program record for goals in a single season.

back the majority of its starters from last year's squad that made an appearance in the NCAA tournament, including leading
scorer Jamilecxth Becerra and 2017 MW All-Newcomer Team member Jenny Orozco.
New Mexico, which earned a share of the 2018 regular season title, was picked third in the voting with 104 points and three first-
place nods. Sophomore Alesia Garcia and redshirt junior Gwen Maly return to the pitch for the Lobos in 2019. The duo combined
for 14 of UNM's goals last year. San Diego State finished fourth in the voting with 96 points and the final two first-place votes. The
Aztecs welcome back 2018 MW Newcomer of the Year Laura Fuentes, who played in every match as a freshman and totaled
seven points (three goals and an assist) during Conference action.
