RENO, Nev. – Nevada baseball junior pitcher Ryan Anderson and center fielder Jaylon McLaughlin were selected on the third day of the 2019 MLB Draft today. Anderson was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 12th round with the 375th pick, while McLaughlin was picked in the 37th round with the 1,122nd selection.

Nevada's three draftees are the most it's had since 2016 when Miles Mastrobuoni, Trenton Brooks and Sam Held were drafted. Grant Ford, who was drafted in the fifth round yesterday, was the Wolf Pack's highest selection since Braden Shipley went 15th overall in 2013.

Anderson had his best collegiate season in 2019, taking over the Friday spot in the pitching rotation for the Pack. He tossed a team-high 70.2 innings this year with 64 strikeouts while boasting a 4.84 ERA and four wins.

In his career, Anderson totaled 122 strikeouts with 21 starts and an 8-7 record with three saves. His best collegiate performance came at Long Beach State this year, when he was named the Mountain West Player of the Week after tossing seven hitless innings with 11 strikeouts.

McLaughlin broke out in 2019 after moving to center field and became the Pack's most productive offensive player. Leading the team with a .339 average and 25 stolen bases in 2019, he tripled his previous career-high for RBI by knocking in 24 runs this season.

In three seasons, the junior slashed .289 with 101 hits, 10 doubles, five triples and four homers. McLaughlin was one of Nevada's most clutch players this year, as he was responsible for delivering two separate walkoff hits this season.
