RENO, Nev. – Sophomore right-hand pitcher
Julia Jensen has been named to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Softball First Team. This team is selected by CoSIDA and recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Jensen was one of two to earn a selection to the District 8 first team from the Mountain West along with Mia Maher of Utah State. The Sparks native, along with two other pitchers from Stanford and Washington now advance to the round of voting to determine the Google Cloud Academic All-America teams.
This season the pitcher has made 22 appearances in the circle with 77.0 innings pitched and racked up 77 strikeouts. She is one of four pitchers that combines for 277 strikeouts to lead the Mountain West along with averaging 7.0 a game for herself, which also leads Mountain West. Jensen recorded a career game this season against New Mexico where she posted 15 strikeouts, a new career record that tied the second-most in a single game next to Southern Utah on Feb. 13, 2009.
Jensen is majoring in neuroscience with the intent of becoming a doctor and is a member of the Phi Delta Epsilon Medical Fraternity, Nevada Alpha Chapter. Along with her studies, Jensen also became the community service representative for SAAC.
Jensen and the rest of the Wolf Pack are heading into the final conference weekend of the year against San Jose Staté starting May 9 at 3 pm.
