WOLF PACK HEADS TO SAN JOSE FOR FINAL MW SERIES OF 2019

Entering the final stretch of the 2019 regular season, Nevada will travel to San Jose State to face the Spartans and try to force its way into the Mountain West Tournament ... The Pack is currently in sixth place in the Mountain West, and needs to take the series from the Spartans to keep its postseason hopes alive ... Friday and Sunday's contest will be available on the Mountain West Network, and John Ramey will call the entire weekend on 94.1 FM/1450 AM ... Live stats will be available via StatBroadcast ... Following its weekend in the Bay Area, the Pack will be back in Reno to host its regular-season finale against Pacific at Don Weir Field at Peccole Park ... That game against the Tigers will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network and John Ramey on the call ... Live stats will be powered by SIDEARM ... Nevada will head to San Jose with a lot to play for, but history is in the Wolf Pack's favor as it has won seven of its last eight regular-season games against the Spartans ... The last time Nevada played in San Jose, during the 2018 season, the Pack took two-of-three contests to win the series and will look to reciprocate that beginning Friday ... This is the only regular-season meeting between Nevada and the Spartans ... San Jose State ranks last in the Mountain West with a .267 batting average, and fourth with a team ERA of 5.30 ... Nevada has the advantage in both categories, hitting .270 as a team and boasting a 4.91 ERA ... In its last 14 contests, the Spartans are only 1-13 and lost 10 in a row at one point ... The Spartans are led by Kellen Strahm, who is leading the Mountain West this season with a .400 batting average ... SJSU also has the MW strikeout leader in Andrew Mitchel who has punched out 96 batters ... This is Nevada's only matchup against Pacific this season, and won its last game against the TIgers in 2018 7-5 ... In that game, Nevada was getting shutout 5-0 through six innings but the Pack scored two in the seventh and exploded for five more in the eighth to steal the victory from the Tigers ... Pacific is only batting .259 this season and has hit 20 home runs, compared to Nevada's Mountain West-leading 46 on the season ... The Tigers do hold a slightly better ERA, as they have a team average of 4.43.
