RENO, Nev. - The Nevada Softball team is heading to San Jose, Calif. for the final weekend of conference play and the final three games of the regular season. The Pack are currently 26-23, 10-11 on the season.
The three-game series begins on Thursday, May 9 with first pitch set for 3:00 pm PT with the Friday game starting at noon PT and wrapping up the series on a Saturday at noon PT. All three games will be available through the Mountain West Network and live stats through nevadawolfpack.com/softballls.
Last weekend the Pack took a single game from the Rebels of UNLV; the Saturday contest was finished in five innings thanks to the balanced offensive bats and lights out defense from
Kali Sargent. The senior pitched a one hit shutout in the 9-0 contest on Saturday and turned around and pitched another complete game on Sunday, all while racking up 12 strikeouts and only allowing one walk and three runs.
Junior
Sadaria McAlister had three consecutive multi-hit games with two doubles, a home run along with six RBIs.
Kwynn Warner,
Kenzi Goins, and
Ashley Salausa all knocked home runs in the series along with McAlister with Salausa having a two RBI long ball to get within one run on Sunday morning.
The Spartans of San Jose State enter the contest 35-15, 15-6 on the season. The team is led by Madison Aurin who has a .303 average and also leads the team in hits (44), RBIs (33) and total bases (71). The pitching staff has four primary pitchers who combine for a 2.72 ERA with Caroline Bowman and Jenessa Ullegue leading; both have over 25 appearances in the circle. Bowman is 12-6 with 107 IP and 50 K's while Ullegue is 15-4 with 120.1 IP and 96 K's.
