RENO, Nev. – Nevada's women's track and field team wraps up the 2018-19 regular season this week, traveling to Berkeley, Calif. for Cal's Brutus Hamilton Invitational. The meet will be the last competition before the Wolf Pack travels to Fresno, Calif. for the Mountain West Championships.
The Pack will look to carry over some of the momentum from last week, where the team had several athletes re-write all-time lists. Sophomore
Nicola Ader moved up on all-time lists for three different events, including a school record in the long jump and a national top-10 mark in the heptathlon. Senior
Lindsey Sickler and sophomore
Morgin Coonfield moved up in the 5,000m and 3,000m steeplechase, respectively. Coonfield and Sickler's steeplechase personal records, both set within the last month, are leading the Pack to a fifth-place ranking nationally in the event.
Freshman
Gabby Fraser improved her mark on the triple jump all-time list and senior
Emily Etter moved up in the pole vault. The 4x400m relay team of sophomore
Lauren Green, freshman
Emily Costello, junior
Karoline Sauer and senior
Zanae Jones clocked the ninth-fastest time in school history.
Looking ahead to the Mountain West Championships, the Pack has a total of 13 athletes in the top 10 of the conference for 14 different events. Leading the way is Ader, who currently sits in the top 10 for four events, including leading the conference in both the high jump and the heptathlon. Costello sits atop three events, ranking 10th in the 100m and 400m races, on top of a seventh-place rank in the 200m.
The Pack has three athletes ranked in the top 10 of the javelin, the most for any event. Sophomore
Alex Bohlman leads the conference, and freshmen
Gaia Osborne and
Anna Maria Sommerfeld sit in fifth and seventh, respectively. Sommerfeld sits in ninth in the heptathlon as well.
Sauer paces the conference in the 400m hurdles, with sophomore
Agnese Mulatero joining her in the top 10.
Nevada has several near the top for distance events as well. Coonfield sits in the top 10 for both the 10,000m and the 3,000m steeplechase, while Sickler sits in the top five of both the 3,000m steeplechase and the 5,000m. Sophomore
Hiley Dobbs is in the top 10 of the 10,000m as well.
Junior
Gaby Palmer and senior
Emily Etter are both in the top 10 of the pole vault, and freshman
Gabby Fraser is ranked 10th in the triple jump.
