FRESNO, Calif. – In its final regular season event of 2018-19, the Nevada women's golf team finished in sixth at the Fresno State Classic.
The Wolf Pack, which also began the day in sixth, combined for a 13-over par round of 301 in the final round. Nevada finished at 25-over for the tournament, four shots out of a top five. UC Davis ran away with the team title, winning the event by 11 strokes over runner-up Grand Canyon. The Aggies were the only team in the 14-team field to finish under par.
Freshman
Danni Ujimori led the Pack with a career best finish of a tie for 16
th. Ujimori began the day just one shot back of the lead but struggled to find birdies during the final round, finishing the day with a round of 79. With rounds of 72 and 69 in the first two rounds, Ujimori finished the event at 4-over par. Fellow freshman
Victoria Gailey jumped six spots on the individual leaderboard into a tie for 26
th after carding a 2-over 74 on Tuesday.
Senior
Kaitlin Collom finished just one shot behind Gailey at 8-over for the tournament and tied for 29
th place. Collom tallied a 4-over 76 in the final round. Junior
Jenny Krause tied her best round of the tournament with a 2-over 74 on Tuesday and tied for 42
nd place at 12-over for the event. Rounding out the Wolf Pack lineup was senior
Chaithra Katamneni who finished right behind Krause in a tie for 47
th. Freshman
Maddy Zunino was entered as an individual and tied for 65
th after a final round of 77, her best of the tournament.
Christine Danielsson of UC Davis captured the individual title by one shot over runner-up Alexis Linam of Grand Canyon. Danielsson finished at 7-under par.
Nevada is next in action April 15-17 at the Mountain West Championship from Mission Hills Country Club in Palm Desert, Calif.
