RENO, Nev. - After falling to the Aztecs two games to one, the Nevada softball team is looking to bounce back in a three-game series with Fresno State. The Pack is currently 21-14, 6-3 in Mountain West play, while the Bulldogs are 24-12, 3-6.
The games are set for first pitch at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, 3:00 p.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday with all times in PT. All three of the games will be live streamed via Mountain West Network along with live stats available through nevadawolfpack.com/softballls.
Kenzi Goins,
Sadaria McAlister and
Sierra Mello are the top three on the team currently in batting average with a clip above a .350 while
Ashley Salausa and
Haley Burda are both hitting above a .300. The team as a whole is sporting right at a .300 while the Bulldogs are just slightly above at a .310.
Freshman
Dallas Millwood is leading the team in RBIs and is sitting atop of the conference rankings at first and has cracked the top 25 nationally with 35 on the season; she is just one of three freshmen.
Following the weekend, the Pack has come in at ninth in the nation in double per game with a 1.80 average; currently the team has 63 on the season. Joining the offense on the national ranking board is the pitching staff who owns 1-2-3 in the Mountain West for strikeouts per seven innings.
The pitching staff has combined for 224 strikeouts to lead Mountain West with freshman
Kendall Fritz leading the way with 97 personal strikeouts.
Julia Jensen is not far behind though; the sophomore now averages 7.1 per game and has 71 on the year.
Fresno State is offensively led by Rachel Minogue who is sporting a .404 clip and leads the team in hits (44), RBIs (32) and total bases (65). The Bulldogs are currently hitting with a .310 average in comparison to the .300 the Pack has and is sitting with a 3.23 ERA with the Pack at a 3.21 even.
The Bulldogs have a balanced pitching staff with Hailey Dolcini, Danielle Lung and Danielle East each having close if not more than 20 appearances with East leading with 24. Dolcini has pitched eight complete games with three shutout and two combined. Lung has the lowest opponent batting average with .223 but Dolcini has 83 strikeouts.
