RENO, Nev. – The Nevada women's golf team readies to begin its spring season and will tee it up at the Battle at the Rock early next week in Riverside, Calif.
 
The two-day, 54-hole event begins Monday and will conclude Tuesday with the final 18 holes of the tournament. The event is being hosted by UC Riverside at Oak Quarry Golf Course in Riverside, a course the Wolf Pack is familiar with.
 
Last season Nevada also began its spring season at the Battle at the Rock and earned a fifth place finish out of 14 teams. The field this year features 16 teams, including Mountain West foes Boise State and Wyoming. Along with two conference opponents, the Pack will also go up against the No. 1 team in the nation in USC.
 
Head coach Kathleen Takaishi will send her usual five to compete in the event, led by freshman Victoria Gailey. In the fall, Gailey recorded a scoring average of 72.7 which not only led the team, but is on pace to set the single season scoring record. She earned two top 10 finishes in her debut fall season and ranked second on the team with 30 birdies. Gailey will be joined in the lineup by seniors Kaitlin Collom and Chaithra Katamneni and juniors Jenny Krause and Katy Rutherford.
