LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Nevada women's golf team completed the opening round of the Rebel Beach Invitational before the second round was suspended due to darkness.
The 16-team field will wrap up round two beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning and then immediately tee off for the final round. The Wolf Pack finished round one in 12
th place but has climbed up to seventh through 15 holes of the second round. Nevada struggled in the first set of 18 holes, shooting a team score of 311 but is just 7-over par in its second round. None of the 16 teams are under par as No. 10 Arizona leads the way at 5-over for the tournament, followed by tournament co-host UNLV at 9-over.
Individually for the Pack, freshman
Victoria Gailey is currently tied for third place in the 86-player field. Gailey fired an even par 72 in the opening round, shooting 2-over on the front nine and 2-under on the back. Through 16 holes of her second round, Gailey is 1-under par with two birdies and just one bogey during this stretch. She will look to make a move tomorrow as she is just three shots off the individual lead, held by Elizabeth Prior of UNLV.
Elsewhere for Nevada, senior
Chaithra Katamneni is rebounding nicely from an opening round 77 in her second round. Katamneni has moved up into the top 15 and has made four birdies with three holes remaining in round two. Juniors
Jenny Krause and
Katy Rutherford each carded 9-over rounds of 81 in the morning but Krause is currently tied for 58
th while Rutherford is tied for 64
th as round two readies to wrap up tomorrow. Senior
Kaitlin Collom rounded out the list of Pack golfers with an 85 in the first round and is currently in a tie for 79
th place.
