Nelson signs two to NLI for the 2020 season

RENO, Nev. - Head coach Lee Nelson announced two additions to the Nevada Wolf Pack volleyball program on Monday.

Local product, Alyssa Zuro who played at Spanish Springs in 2016 before moving to Damonte Ranch for the past three seasons, will likely play outside hitter and add depth in that position on the Wolf Pack roster. The second signee, Reka Monteleone, is a native from Murrieta, Calif. who plays for Vista Murrieta HS and the Forza 1 Club; currently plays outside, opposite and middle blocker.

"Alyssa brings a quiet confidence, positive attitude and work ethic that are align with the culture we are building here at Nevada," said Nelson. "She has the ability to be an impact player on both offense and defense."

Monteleone helped her high school team win the CIF Regional tournament in Southern California and is now leading her team into the state finals match. She was a member of the second place club team (17 UA) that competed at the 2019 USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships and was named to the all-tournament team. In 2017, Monteleone was a member of the 15 UA Patriot Division team who placed second at the same, USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship tournament.

"Reka brings a high court intelligence and great competitive work ethic," said Nelson. "Her ball control and ability to score on the outside will have competing for playing time immediately."

The Pack has just two more matches on the season, both home contests, against the top two teams in the Mountain West. First up, Wyoming on Thursday night at 6 pm.
