RENO, Nev. - Freshman middle blocker,
Sydney Petersen has been named the Wolf Pack Student-Athlete of the week after her performances on the road. The Pack swept the Air Force Falcons on Saturday after dropping a five-set match to San José State that Thursday prior.
Petersen started all sets in the matches and recorded a .344 hitting percentage going 12-of-32 with an average of 1.50 kills per set. The Washington native, not only had a stellar offensive week but dominated on the defense up front posting 13 blocks with three solo blocks in the match against the Spartans. Petersen averaged 1.62 blocks per set on the week to add to her already 1.41 per set average on the season; the freshman leads the team in blocks along with being ranked second in the Mountain West for blocks and blocks per set.
Nevada wraps up road matches this week, starting with UNLV on Thursday, Nov. 14 7 pm PT. Following the match with the Rebels, the Pack travel to New Mexico to take on the Lobos on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 12 pm PT.
