HENDERSON, Nev. – The Nevada women's golf team completed round one of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown on Sunday and is tied for 16
th place.
On a day with tough scoring conditions, the Wolf Pack combined for a team score of 318 in round one. Nevada enters the second round tied with UC Irvine for 16
th in the 18-team field at 30-over par. There was not one team that posted a round under par in round one. San Francisco carded the top team score of the day at 8-over par. The Dons will take a one-shot lead over South Dakota State into the second round.
Senior
Jenny Krause posted the low Wolf Pack round of the day, shooting a 6-over 78. Krause is currently tied for 42
nd in the 96-player field. Nevada had four players all within one shot of the teammate ahead of them in the standings. Sophomore
Victoria Gailey carded a 7-over 79 and is tied for 49
th, senior
Katy Rutherford is tied for 58
th after carding an 80, sophomore
Danni Ujimori's round of 81 has her tied for 69
th and freshman
Anitra Khoth is tied for 85
th after shooting an 84 in round one.
There were six players who fired par or better round, including the individual leader Elina Saksa of UNLV, who shot a 3-under round of 69. She has a one-shot lead entering Monday's second round.
