RENO, NV. - The Nevada volleyball team is off its the best start since 2002 (5-1) and currently on a three-game winning streak. Looking to extend the streak, the Pack travels to Sacramento to join UC Riverside, Seattle and Sacramento State in the Sacramento State Tournament.
Nevada faces the host team first on Friday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. PT before facing Seattle and UC Riverside on Saturday, Sept. 8. The match against Seattle is set to begin at 10 a.m. PT while the UC Riverside match begins at 5 p.m. PT.
Coming off a spectacular weekend is sophomore
Kayla Afoa and junior
Dalyn Burns. Both named to the Holiday Inn Express All-Tournament team following the weekend sweep of Virginia, Northern Illinois and Northern Kentucky. Afoa combined for 44 attacks in the three matches and recorded three double-doubles all while setting new career highs in kills and digs. Burns also marked a new career high with four service aces in the win over Virginia and posted two double-doubles of her own.
Burns is currently ranked first in the Mountain West and 11th nationally in assists per set with 11.56 while junior
Jamila Minor is ranked first in conference and ninth in the nation for having 12.88 attacks per set.
The squad as a whole is currently ranked first in the Mountain West in assists per set (13.88), digs per set (20.69), kills per set (14.19) and team attacks per set (41.13). The Pack is also 14th nationally in digs per set and 24th in attacks per set.
This weekend marks the first time Nevada has matched up with Seattle University making them the fourth team this season the Pack has met for the first time.
