RENO, Nev. – Seven non-conference home games highlight the Nevada women's basketball team's 2018-19 non-league schedule.
"We have an exciting schedule leading up to Mountain West play," said second-year head coach
Amanda Levens. "These first 11 games will give us a chance to compare with some great programs before we begin conference action."
Nevada opens its 2018-19 season in almost the same way it did last year, against Pac-12 opponent Utah, except this time it's in Reno. The season and home opener will be held Wednesday, Nov. 7 at Lawlor Events Center. This will be the Wolf Pack and Utes sixth meeting in program history.
Following the home opener, the Pack is on the road for back-to-back games starting with a rematch against Santa Clara on Nov. 10. These two teams closed non-conference action last season with Nevada victorious, 52-41 in Reno. The next weekend Nevada will be in Long Beach, Calif. to take on Long Beach State on Nov. 18.
Nevada returns home Nov. 23 and 25 to host the annual Nugget Classic at Lawlor. This year's classic will feature a pair of Power 5 programs in USC and Colorado, along with Mountain West foe Utah State. The event format will be different than in year's past with the Pack scheduled to play the Trojans and Buffaloes.
As December gets underway the Wolf Pack will make the trek over to Missoula, Mont. to compete in the Lady Griz Classic Dec. 1-2. Nevada will square off against UC Davis and Montana in the classic. The Pack will then close out non-conference play with four consecutive home games stretched out from Dec. 11-29.
The seventh annual 'When I Grow Up' game will take place Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. against a familiar opponent in Stanislaus State. Last season the Pack also played Stanislaus State in this game and earned an 81-60 victory in front of a 'When I Grow Up' record crowd of 5,355.
Nevada welcomes in Big 12 foe Texas Tech for an inaugural matchup on Saturday, Dec. 15 with a time still to be determined. The following Thursday, Seattle pays a visit to Reno for a rematch from last season after the Pack defeated the Redhawks 74-65 in Seattle. The Wolf Pack closes non-league play with a home contest against Hawai'i on Saturday, Dec. 29. The last time the Pack and Rainbow Wahine met they played in the program's first triple overtime game. Conference action gets underway Jan. 2 with a road contest at Utah State.
The Wolf Pack enters its second season under head coach
Amanda Levens, who guided the team to its first ever appearance in the Mountain West Championship game last season. Nevada collected 19 wins in her first season, tied for second most in a single season in program history, and reached the semifinals of the Women's Basketball Invitational. The Pack will lose its top two scorers from 2017-18 in
Teige Zeller and
T Moe, but welcomes in six talented freshmen and a transfer from TCU, who will be eligible in 2019-20.
All weekend home games, except Saturday, Dec. 15 against Texas Tech, will be played at 2 p.m. and all weekday games will begin at 6:30 p.m. Deposits for 2018-19 season tickets are now available. For more information, call (775) 348-PACK or visit NevadaWolfPack.com.
