RENO, Nev. - Junior libero and defensive specialist Ryan Blackwood has joined the Nevada volleyball team for the 2018 year, head coach Lee Nelson announced Wednesday.
Blackwood comes to Nevada from Sierra College in Rocklin, Calif. where she played for two years before graduating with her associate degree in liberal arts. Blackwood averaged 5.59 digs in her sophomore year in 2017 for the Wolverines. She also averaged half an ace per set, an additional element to her game. She recorded at least 20 digs in 12 matches last season.
"We're excited to add some more depth in our back row," Nelson said. "Ryan's going to be a great addition to our team."
Blackwood hails from Roseville, Calif. where she attended Roseville High School. A graduate of 2016, Blackwood lettered in her final three years of high school and played for Synergy Force Volleyball Club. In college, she helped lead her team to back-to-back conference titles in 2016 and 2017. She earned All-Conference honors in 2016 and was named to the All-Northern California team in 2017.
