SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Nevada women's tennis team (3-5) fought Santa Clara (4-5) all the way down to the wire but fell 4-3 to the Broncos. Nevada will continue its road trip tomorrow with a match at the University of San Francisco.
With the match tied 3-3, Adriana Gergelyova and Maddie Pothoff battled on court No. 2 and went to a third set to decide the match. Pothoff took the match 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 to clinch the fourth and final point for SCU.
The Broncos started the match hot, winning the doubles point. No. 59 doubles tandem Claudia Herrero and Blaga Delic fell on court No. 1 to Madison Clarke and Pothoff 6-0.
In singles play, Nevada earned victories on courts No. 4-6, with the first coming from freshman Melissa Huchet over Elvena Gevargiz 6-1, 7-5. Fellow freshmen Lili Fekete and Anastaysha Gorbacheva each earned victories as well, giving Nevada all three of its points on the day.
The Wolf Pack will be back in action tomorrow at 12 p.m. at USF. There will be no livestream or live stats of the match.
