FRESNO, Calif. – The Nevada women's golf team completed its run at the Fresno State Classic on Tuesday from Copper River Country Club with a seventh place finish.
The Wolf Pack began the day in seventh and ended the day in seventh after posting its best team round of the tournament with a score of 300. The Pack finished ahead of Mountain West foe Boise State in the team standings. Sacramento State ran away with the event, placing first at 1-over par in the 11-team field. The Hornets bested runner-up Indiana by 18 strokes.
Junior
Chaithra Katamneni recorded the low Wolf Pack round of the final round with an even par 72. Katamneni improved her scores in each of her rounds, shooting 80 then 76 then capped it off with a 72. She jumped 15 spots on the day to finish in a tie for 26
th place, third best on the team. Senior
Celyn Khoo was the top Nevada finisher of the event as she earned a top 15, tying for 14
th place. Khoo carded a 2-over 74 for her final round and was 7-over par for the event.
Senior
Jordan Keyser finished one shot behind Khoo at 8-over par after a 3-over par round of 75 on Tuesday. Keyser fell just outside of the top 15 as she tied for 16
th place in the 63-player field. Sophomores
Katy Rutherford and
Jenny Krause rounded out the Pack lineup. Rutherford shot a 79 for her final round and tied for 36
th while Krause managed an 82 on Tuesday to tie for 50
th. Junior
Kaitlin Collom, who was entered as an individual, tied for 54
th after carding a round of 78.
Avery French of UC Irvine and Erin Harper of Indiana tied for individual medalist honors at 5-under par. The two of them bested the third place finisher, Nishtha Madan of Sacramento State, by one shot.
Nevada will return to competition March 19-20 when it competes in the Sacramento State Invitational at Sierra View Country Club.
