RENO, Nev. – The Nevada softball team heads to Davis, California looking to continue its current hot streak at the UC Davis Tournament March 8-10. After beginning the season 3-9, the Wolf Pack has now won seven of its past eight games to even its season record at 10-10.
Should the Pack go a perfect 3-0 on the weekend, it will guarantee itself a winning record heading into conference play for the third year in a row. This weekend, Nevada will square up against UC Davis, Valparaiso and Northern Colorado, who the Pack took down earlier this season at the Libby Matson Tournament.
Last time out, Nevada's high-octane offense extend its season-high winning streak to seven games at the Red Desert Classic, where the Pack began the weekend 4-0 before falling to Montana on the final day. In its wins last weekend, Nevada outscored its opponents 43-13, which included three games in which the Pack scored 10 or more runs.
Senior
Erika Hansen put together her best weekend of the season, batting .636 (7-for-11) with 10 RBIs and three home runs. She also crossed the plate in all five games last weekend, scoring six runs and posting a slugging percentage of 1.545.
Sophomore
Kenzi Goins also had an impressive weekend, leading the Pack with nine hits in 17 at-bats (.529 average), while scoring eight runs in the process. Her sophomore counterpart
Kwynn Warner crossed the plate eight times as well and recorded a .533 batting average (8-for-15).

HOLY HANSEN
- Senior Erika Hansen has been swinging a scorching hot bat as of late, which has translated into her becoming one of the most feared hitters in the conference. After beginning the season batting just .091(1-for-11), Hansen has responded quickly and loudly in her past 15 games, where she has batted an astonishing .488 (20-for-41) with 20 RBIs, 12 runs scored.
- On top of that, she has also smashed a home run in six of her past eight games and is now tied for the highest batting average on the team (.404). Hansen also ranks in the top 10 in the Mountain West in batting average (10th), home runs (1st) and RBIs (2nd).
- Last weekend at the Red Desert Classic, Hansen launched two three-run home runs, in one day as she connected on one against Southern Utah and Utah Valley (March 3).
- In the Pack's game against Montana (March 4), Hansen was responsible for all of Nevada's runs, recording three RBIs and a run scored.
JJ's... FREAKY FAST
- In her young career at Nevada, freshman Julia Jensen has proven herself as one of the best pitchers in the conference, serving as the ace of the Wolf Pack's pitching staff. Holding a 3.12 ERA and leading the Mountain West with 68 strikeouts, Jensen flirted with history against Seattle U (Feb. 17), as she put together a bid for a perfect game, having retired the first 12 batters she faced and finishing the game surrendering just one hit.
- At the Libby Matson Tournament (Feb. 23-25), she totaled 23 punchouts and surrendered 13 hits over 22.2 innings pitched. Jensen also tossed the Pack's first shutout of the season in Nevada's 6-0 win over Pacific (Feb. 25).
- Last weekend versus Utah Valley (March 3), Jensen struck out a career-high 14 batters, falling just one punchout short of tying the Nevada record for most strikeouts in a seven inning game.
