FRESNO, Calif. – The Nevada women's golf team began the Fresno State Classic on Monday with the first two rounds of play.
The second round was suspended due to darkness, however the Wolf Pack was able to complete its second set of 18 holes prior to the suspension. After 36 holes for the Pack, the team sits in seventh place in the 11-team field. Nevada carded team rounds of 301 and 302 on Monday and sits at 27-over par. Tournament leader Sacramento State was the only team to end the first day under par, as the Hornets sit at 3-under, 17 shots better than second place Indiana.
Individually the Wolf Pack was led by its two seniors,
Jordan Keyser and
Celyn Khoo. Keyser recorded the low Nevada round of the day with a first round score of 72. She followed that up with a 77 in the afternoon and is tied with teammate Khoo for 15
th place in the 63-player field. Khoo notched rounds of 75 and 74 on Monday to tie for 15
th at 5-over par.
Sophomore
Katy Rutherford struggled in her early round, shooting a 79, but rebounded nicely in the later goings to register a second round of 75. She enters the final round tied for 36
th. Fellow sophomore
Jenny Krause is one shot behind Rutherford at 11-over par and in a tie for 41
st after rounds of 75 and 80. Junior
Chaithra Katamneni rounds out the Pack lineup in 43
rd position. Katamneni took an 80 in round one and improved four strokes in round two to post a 76. Junior
Kaitlin Collom, who is entered as an individual, sits in a tie for 53
rd at 17-over par.
Nevada will conclude the Fresno State Classic with the third and final round on Tuesday.
