SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – In the second match of its road trip, the Wolf Pack (4-5) defeated the University of San Francisco (2-7) by a score of 4-2 on Saturday afternoon. Nevada will battle at Sonoma State tomorrow to try and put together its first win streak of the season.
Doubles play went in the Pack's favor, as it started the day with a 6-2 victory by Claudia Herrero and Blaga Delic on court No. 1. Freshmen Lili Fekete and Melissa Huchet clinched the 1-0 lead for Nevada when they defeated Alexa Meyer and Anna Sokiran 7-5 on court No. 2.
USF grabbed its first point of the match to tie it at 1-1 with a victory over Adriana Gergelyova on court No. 2. Huchet took the lead right back for the Pack on court No. 4 after taking down Shanna Dos Santos 6-2, 6-2.
With a 2-1 lead, freshman Anastaysha Gorbacheva earned a dominant 6-1, 6-2 victory on court No. 6 to put the Pack within striking distance of earning its fourth win of the season. Herrero fell on court No. 1 to make it 3-2, but Fekete's 7-5, 6-3 win against Meyer on court No. 5 clinched the victory for the Pack.
Nevada will wrap up its road trip in northern California tomorrow when it takes on Sonoma State at 12 p.m. There will be no live stats or livestream available.
