Pack secures fourth place finish at the Phill Hansel Invitational

HOUSTON, Texas - The Nevada swim team wrapped up competition at the Phill Hansel Invitational on Sunday, Nov. 18. The team put up 863 points, good for a fourth place finish.

Houston took the meet with 1,727 points followed by Rice with 919 and in third was New Mexico. Nevada finished over Mountain West members in Colorado State and Air Force. It is important to note that the final scores include the diving events, in which Nevada did not participate in.

The 1650 free started the day off and Caitlyn McHugh had the best finish for Nevada in fifth with a time of 16:41.50. Lindsey Soule took 12th with a time of 16:58.52 and Alexa Markl finished 19th with a time of 17:15.42.

Next was the 200 yard backstroke. Imogen Watson came in first for the Pack, finishing 13th overall with a time of 2:02.17. Soule, with a time of 2:05.38 took 15th.

Senior Rebecca Murray took the top finish for Nevada in the 100 free, coming in third overall with a 49.59 and fellow senior, Jamie Reynolds finished ninth with a time of 50.60. Another senior, Caitlyn Richardson, came in 15th to give the Pack three scored times.

Donna dePolo, in the 200 breaststroke, finished seventh overall with a time of 2:15.20. The final individual event of the night was the 200 yard butterfly and freshman Julia Adamczyk took first with a time of 1:59.81.

Richardson, Reynolds, Andressa Cholodovskis and Murray competed in the 400 free relay to conclude the night. The squad posted a time of 3:19.30 and picked up second place and 56 points to secure the fourth place team finish.

The Pack are off until Dec. 8, when they travel to Boise, Idaho to compete in a Mountain West dual with Boise State.
