RENO, Nev. – Head coach Lee Nelson announced three additions to the Nevada Wolf Pack volleyball program Wednesday.
The three include Mater Dei HS product Mandalay Rennon, who will be a libero and defensive specialist for the Pack, middle blocker Sydney Petersen from Snohomish, Wash. and Glacier Park HS. The third signee is a setter Andrea Alcraz from Poway, Calif. and Powaway HS.
With the departure of Mo Maluotoga on defense, the starting position is wide open. The libero/defensive specialist Mandalay Rennon, who is set to play in the 2018 CIF State Girls Volleyball Championship game on the 17th, could compete for the spot right away. At the setter position, the Wolf Pack currently has Dalyn Burns and McKayla Wuensch splitting time but with the addition of Andrea Alcraz it deepen that position. The Poway HS senior has played in 113 sets this season with 751 assists for a 6.6 assist per set average along with 348 digs and 52 service aces. Her varsity team made it to the 2018 CIF San Diego Quarterfinals and is also a member of the Epic Volleyball Club team.
Sydney Petersen, a 6'1 middle blocker from the state of Washington will look to make an immediate impact on the Pack in 2019. With the early graduation of Jamila Minor, the Seattle Junior Volleyball Club member is set to compete for a spot. During the 2018 season she played in 43 sets racking up 112 kills and a .336 hitting percentage. On defense she put up 52 blocks, four of which were solo, in those 42 sets giving her a 1.2 per set average.
