RENO, Nev. – With the Nevada volleyball season wrapping up, the Pack heads out for its final two road games of the season. Nevada takes on San Diego State on Thursday in San Diego, Calif. at 6:00 p.m. PT before traveling to Fresno State on Saturday for its final match of the year at 1:00 p.m. PT.
Nevada enters the week 8-19 on the season after falling in two midweek matches. The Pack took the San Jose Spartans to four sets and the Falcons of Air Force to five. San Diego State is currently 9-20 on the year and split contests this past week. The Aztecs picked up a win at New Mexico in five sets but dropped a three-set match to UNLV. Fresno State (20-8) is sitting second in the Mountain West and won the week with a five set win over New Mexico and a four-set win over UNLV.
Kayla Afoa is leading the offense for the Pack and had a career game against Air Force this past Thursday. The sophomore outside hitter recorded 26 kills on 68 attacks which boosted her to first place in the Mountain West in attacks per set and third in total attacks. She also notched her 15th double-double of the season.
Dalyn Burns also had a standout game on Thursday when she had 20 digs with 49 assists, for her 11th double-double.
Nevada currently leads the Mountain West in digs with 1648 total over 106 sets for an average of 15.55 which is slightly more than Fresno State. Both San Diego State and Fresno State rank high in the offensive categories (hitting percentage and kills) but Nevada edges them both out in service aces.
The Aztecs are primarily led by Deja Harris who leads the team in kills with 344 and a kill per set average of 2.97 while on defense, Harris has over 100 blocks (136) and a 1.35 block per set average.
Taylor Slover from Fresno State leads the Bulldogs with 405 kills and a 3.68 per set average while recording 1120 total attacks. On defense, Hailie Watson has tallied 129 blocks with a 1.17 average per set but Reagan Leonard has 509 digs total.
