Pack moves up six spots after second round

DENVER, Colo. – With one round to play at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate, Nevada women's golf freshman Victoria Gailey is three shots back of the individual lead.

The Wolf Pack as a team made huge strides in the second round, going from 15th place in the 16-team field to a tie for ninth. Nevada shaved an impressive 11 strokes off of its round one score, going from a 307 yesterday to a 296 on Saturday. The Pack is tied with Minnesota for ninth at 27-over par. Colorado State continues to lead the event as the only team under par. The Rams sit at 3-under and are nine shots ahead of UC Davis for the team lead.

Gailey remained consistent in her play this week, turning in an even par round of 72 to remain at 1-over for the tournament. During her round on Saturday she totaled four birdies and played holes No. 6-14 at 3-under par with no bogeys. She enters the final round of action just three shots behind Samantha Hutchinson of UC Davis for the individual lead. Hutchinson is one of just three players in the entire 90-player field currently under par.

Making the biggest leap for the Pack, however, was junior Jenny Krause. The Oregon native jumped 25 spots on the individual leaderboard after her second round 73, shaving nearly 10 strokes off of her first round score. The difference between today and yesterday was Krause's ability to find some red numbers on her scorecard, making four birdies on the day. She enters the final round in a tie for 61st.

Senior Chaithra Katamneni improved her score by three shots on Saturday, carding a 3-over 75. Katamneni made 14 pars during her round and added a birdie on No. 13. She is currently the second-highest ranking Pack player in the field in a tie for 45th. Junior Katy Rutherford also improved her score, tying her season-low round of 76, and shaving four strokes off her first round score. Senior Kaitlin Collom shot an 81 on Saturday and enters the final round tied for 71st.
