Nevada begins four-game home stand with match against UNLV

RENO, Nev. – The Nevada volleyball team is looking to recover from a recent skid and welcomes UNLV to Virginia Street Gym on Thursday, Nov. 1 for the first of four home games.

The Wolf Pack enter the contest 8-15, 1-11 while the Rebels are 16-8, 7-5 and 4-3 in road contests. This marks the second meeting this season and second match in the new Silver State Series.

This past week Nevada fell in two road contests against Boise State and Utah State while UNLV split the week with a 3-0 loss to New Mexico and a 3-0 win over Air Force, both contests in Vegas.

The match is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. PT live on Mountain West Network as Nevada looks to continue the streak of taking one from the Rebels a year. It's been since 2014 that UNLV last completed a sweep over the Pack.

When comparing the two teams, Nevada edges out the Rebels in digs and attacks per set but UNLV leads the conference in aces.

UNLV will look to lean on sophomore outside hitter Mariena Hayden who currently leads the team in kills with 392 for 4.51 average per set while also leading in service aces with 82 total. She also carries the team defensively in digs with 268 total. The Rebels setter, Antonette Rolda has recorded 778 assists for 8.64 per set.

For Nevada, Kayla Afoa continues to standout offensively with help from Shiloh Peleras and Kili Robins. Junior setter Dalyn Burns and sophomore McKayla Wuensch will continue to split time at the position with both putting up double digit assists in recent matches.

Following this match up the Pack host three more home contests with the Lobos of New Mexico coming to Reno on Saturday, Nov. 3. Tickets for any home match can be purchased online at NevadaWolfPack.com
