RENO, Nev. – In an effort to continue its trend of success against the Falcons, the Nevada volleyball team (8-10, 1-6) will travel to Air Force (12-7, 2-3) for a matchup on Oct. 13 at 12:00 p.m. PT.
The Wolf Pack enters this contest having won the past six matches against the Falcons, including a perfect 6-0 under head coach
Lee Nelson.
Nevada currently has three of the conference's top-10 diggers in senior
Mo Maluotoga (fifth with 4.03 average), sophomore
Kayla Afoa (ninth with 3.12 average) and junior
Dalyn Burns (tenth with 3.09 average). With the help of those three, the team currently ranks second for team digs with an average per set of 15.80.
Jamila Minor and Afoa also top the league in attacks per set and kills produced. Minor sits in sixth for kills per set with 3.42 and Afoa in eighth with a 3.14 average.
The Air Force Falcons are coming off a tough road week falling to Wyoming 2-3 on Thursday, Oct. 4 and dropping the Colorado contest, 0-3 on Saturday, Oct. 6. The Falcons play San Jose State in Colorado Springs on Thursday, Oct. 11 prior to hosting the Pack. Air Force is currently 8-3 at home.
The Falcons are ranked in the top half of the Mountain West in assists, digs, and kills. Air Force will lean on Abigail Miksch who just routed 1000 kills on her career in the Wyoming matchup and is currently ranked ninth in the conference for kills. Another player the Falcons is led by is Denise Ssozi who is seventh in kills with a 3.18 per set average and tenth in points.
