RENO, Nev. – Looking to stay hot, the Nevada Wolf Pack (4-10, 2-0 MW) will travel to Fresno State Thursday to face the Bulldogs (5-9, 0-2).
The Wolf Pack will be looking to not only win its third match in a row, but also its fourth match in a row against the 'Dogs since 2015, the first season under Nevada head coach
Lee Nelson. The Wolf Pack is 3-1 against Fresno State under Nelson. Match time is set for 7 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on the Mountain West Network.
"There's always room for us to improve, but things are finally starting to click," Nelson said. "Now we just have to see if we can keep it going this week."
The Wolf Pack is coming, most recently, off a sweep at Air Force. Nevada also defeated San José State in four sets at home to open conference play. One player who impressed was sophomore
Ayla Fresenius. Not only did she contribute offensively as the team's opposite side hitter, but she proved to be a rock on defense. Averaging 3.57 digs and 1.14 blocks per set over the two matches, Fresenius was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week, the first conference honor for the team this season.
Sophomore
Jamila Minor has also seemed to find her stride at the right time. In the first two matches of conference play, she is tied with fellow sophomore
Shayla Hoeft at 3.14 kills per set. Minor fell just one kill short of tying her career high at Air Force, putting down 11 balls.
