RENO, Nev. – Helping lead the Nevada Wolf Pack volleyball team to two wins to open conference play, sophomore Ayla Fresenius has been named the Mountain West Defensive of the Week.
"I've been working really hard and focusing on being a good teammate," Fresenius said. "After a really tough nonconference schedule, it's nice that we've hit our stride when it really counts."
Fresenius put on a stellar performance both at the net and in the back row. Tallying a total of eight blocks, she averaged 1.14 blocks per set in the victories over San José State and Air Force. She also averaged 3.57 digs per set for a grand total of 25. Her 11 digs marked a match high against Air Force. She also contributed on offense last week, putting down six kills against Air Force with a .400 hitting percentage.
The Wolf Pack will wrap up its three match road swing this week, heading to Fresno State on Thursday and San Diego State on Saturday.
