MALIBU, Calif. – Senior Claudia Herrero of the Nevada women's tennis team started off her day with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 victory to advance her to the consolation bracket semifinals before falling to South Alamaba's Alexandria Stiteler to end her run at the ITA Masters.
Herrero's first set with Anna Grigoryan in the quarterfinals was tight, splitting the first four games 2-2. They would stay knotted up until the very end, when Grigoryan pulled away to take the first set 6-4. Herrero would gain a head of steam in the second set and never look back, winning 6-2 and sweeping the decisive third set 6-0 to advance to the semifinals.
In the semifinals, Stiteler and Herrero played a hard fought first set, where Stiteler earned a big 7-5 victory. She would proceed to with the second set 6-0 and end Herrero's run in the tournament.
