RENO, Nev. – Senior Claudia Herrero of the Nevada women's tennis team defeated Jackson State's Tyler Smith 6-2, 6-2 on Friday afternoon at the ITA Masters. Herrero has advanced to the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket and will play again tomorrow.

The first set started off close, with Herrero and Smith splitting the first four games. Herrero would then go on a tear, winning four straight games to take the first set by a score of 6-2. The Wolf Pack senior then stormed out to a 5-1 lead in the second set before winning the match 6-2, 6-2.

Herrero will face Anna Grigoryan of LIU Brooklyn tomorrow in the quarterfinals.
