Katamneni shoots 69 in final round of Ptarmigan Ram Classic

Jordan Keyser holed out on No. 18 for an eagle.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Junior Chaithra Katamneni fired a team-best round of 69 in Tuesday's final round at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic.

"Chaithra had a great round today and played her last 14 holes at 5-under," said head coach Kathleen Takaishi. "Jenny had another solid round too, which should give her some confidence going into our next event."

Katamneni's 3-under 69 was the only Wolf Pack round under par for the tournament. Her Tuesday round helped her jump 31 spots on the leaderboard to finish in a tie for 26th, the best Nevada finish in the field of 84. The 69 was just two strokes shy of tying her career low round. Katamneni did not get off to a great start in her round as she found herself 2-over par after the first for holes. However, she made five birdies throughout the remaining 14 holes to card the 3-under score.

As a team, Nevada finished were it had been all week in 11th place out of 15 teams, and finished ahead of Mountain West foe Boise State. The Wolf Pack did post its best team score of the week though with a 298 (+10). New Mexico State shot the best team round of the tournament on Tuesday, going 10-under par to best San Jose State for the team title by two shots. The Aggies and Spartans were the only teams in the field to finish under par.

Sophomore Jenny Krause finished her run in a tie for 32nd after shooting the second-lowest Pack score of the day, a 3-over 75. Senior Celyn Khoo struggled in her final round, carding a 6-over 78 and finished tied for 49th place. Junior Kaitlin Collom shot a 76 on Tuesday and tied for 69th. Collom made 37 pars during her three rounds, which ranked in a tie for sixth in the field. Senior Jordan Keyser shot a 78 in round three but had a bright spot on No. 18. Keyser holed out on the par 4 18th from 115 yards out to record an eagle.

Nevada will be back in action at the Rose City Collegiate, an event hosted by Portland State from Langdon Farms Country Club, on Sept. 25-26.
