FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The Nevada swimming and diving team completed the opening day of the Husky Invite on Friday, where the Wolf Pack came out firing on all cylinders. Heading into Saturday's second day of the event, the Pack will sit in first place after scoring 493 points on Friday.
Nevada got off to a fast start to begin the Husky Invite, as the Pack's A team that consisted of senior
Emma Payne and juniors
Caitlyn Richardson,
Rebecca Murray, and
Jamie Reynolds won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:32.36. The Pack also saw two swimmers place in the top five of the 500-yard freestyle as freshman
Caitlyn McHugh (4:53.02) finished third and sophomore
Diana Sokolowska (4:54.62) placed fourth.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Nevada placed four swimmers in the top eight, including Payne (23.28) and Murray (23.32), who finished second and third, respectively, marking new season-high times for both of them. Sophomore
Andressa Cholodovskis set a new invite record in the 200-yard IM, placing first with her time of 1:59.20, which now ranks third in Wolf Pack history.
Richardson (third, 2:02.12) and freshman Donno dePolo (fifth, 2:02.82) followed Cholodovskis in the 200-yard IM as both of them posted season-best times in that event as well. The Pack ended the day on another high note, as Nevada's A team of Payne, Richardson, Murray and Reynolds placed first in the 400-yard medley relay, winning that event by nearly five seconds with a time of 3:39.76.
Up next, the Pack will participate in day two of the three-day event, which is scheduled to take place Saturday, Dec. 2.
