COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West has announced its 2017-18 preseason women's basketball predicted order of finish with the Wolf Pack slated to finish in 10th place among the league's 11 teams.
The MW's preseason predicted order of finish, all-conference team and individual awards were voted on by a panel of the conference's 11 head coaches and select women's basketball media from around the league.
Nevada finished 10th in the league standings last season but is under new direction in 2017-18 with first-year head coach
Amanda Levens. A bulk of the team returns, including three starters in senior guard
T Moe, senior forward
Teige Zeller and junior forward
AJ Cephas. Another junior forward,
Terae Briggs, also returns after starting in 15 games during her first season with the Wolf Pack. Two newcomers join the squad as well in 2017-18 with freshman
Janelle Sumilong and junior
Delaney Gosse, a Wolf Pack track & field student-athlete, coming on board.
Boise State, which won the MW Tournament and earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, garnered seven first place votes and narrowly bested both Wyoming and Colorado State for top honors. The Cowgirls and Rams each received six first place votes, but Wyoming totaled 216 overall points to CSU's 211 to rank ahead of them in second in the predicted order of finish. New Mexico, which also notched Preseason Player of the Year (Cherise Beynon), Preseason Newcomer of the Year (Tesha Buck) and Preseason Freshman of the Year (N'Dea Flye) honors was picked fourth. UNLV rounded out the top five.
