RENO, Nev. – The Nevada Wolf Pack volleyball team will honor its seniors Saturday in the final match of the season.
The Pack (10-19, 8-9 MW) is set to face off with Boise State (16-13, 9-8 MW) Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. in Virginia Street Gym. Nevada's three soon-to-be graduates in Madison Foley, Peighton De Von and Gabby Szachara will be honored after the match.
A lot is on the line for the Pack, who will look to end its season at .500 in conference play. A win over the Broncos would guarantee Nevada at least a fifth place finish in the Mountain West, while a win and a San José State loss would put Nevada in a tie for fourth to end the year.
Foley is coming off a game at Utah State where she hit a major milestone, recording her 118th career ace and moving into sole possession of third in the Nevada record books. Foley started her career at Nevada in 2014, coming from Dayton High School as a local and made an immediate impact. In her time on campus, she has won All-Mountain West and All-Mountain West academic team honors. In her career, she has eclipsed 1,000 career kills and nearly 1,000 digs, an accomplishment held by a small group of NCAA volleyball players.
De Von, another honoree on Saturday, had a career match at Utah State in which she set career highs in kills with 20 and hitting percentage, putting the ball down at a tick of .562. De Von saw her first action for Nevada in 2015 after redshirting in 2014 and has found her stride in her final season. She averaged nearly a block per set in 2017 while recording multiple career highs. De Von was named to the All-Mountain West academic team in 2016.
Szachara is hitting more than .350 in her final season with the Pack, a career started in 2015. She's also averaged more than .80 block per set in her three years on the court, adding depth to the middle blocker position.
