WAHIAWA, Hawai'i – The Nevada women's golf team concluded its fall season with a ninth place finish at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational.
The Wolf Pack improved its score from round two to round three, shaving seven strokes off of its score to post a 301 for the final round. Nevada totaled a team score of 907 (+43) for the tournament to finish in ninth place in the 12-team field. The Pack did not have anything worse than a bogey on its scorecard today, but only collected five birdies throughout the 18-hole round. Ole Miss was the only team to finish the event under par, finishing at 3-under and besting runner-up Grand Canyon by three shots.
Junior
Chaithra Katamneni rebounded nicely on Wednesday, carding the low Wolf Pack round of the entire tournament with a 1-under 71. She made a team-high three birdies during her round. Her round of 71 helped her jump 22 spots on the final individual leaderboard to tie for 28
th place. She finished at 10-over par overall.
Senior
Jordan Keyser recorded the best finish among the Pack with a tie for 23
rd. On Wednesday she carded a 3-over 75 and finished at 8-over par for the tournament. The last three Nevada finishers struggled to find birdies during their final round as sophomore
Jenny Krause notched a round of 77 and senior
Celyn Khoo and junior
Kaitlin Collom both shot rounds of 78. Khoo tied for 43
rd, while Krause tied for 47
th and Collom placed 55
th.
Sydney Colwill of Memphis claimed individual honors at 5-under par, one shot better than runner-up Katy Harris of Ole Miss.
Nevada will resume play in the 2017-18 season in February at the Battle at the Rock at Oak Quarry Golf Course in Riverside, Calif.
