RENO, Nev. – With Governor's Series points on the line, the Nevada Wolf Pack volleyball team (7-17, 5-7 MW) will head down south to Las Vegas to face the UNLV Rebels (8-17, 4-8 MW) Thursday night.
The match is scheduled for 6 p.m. live on the Mountain West Network. A rematch of an Oct. 7 match in which the Rebels won in five sets, Nevada will look to continue its streak of picking up at least one win over UNLV. It's been since 2014 that the Rebels last completed the season sweep over Nevada as Nevada has beaten UNLV at least once a year under head coach
Lee Nelson.
"Matches against the rival are always more fun," Nelson said. "We're coming off a good, competitive sweep against Fresno State and our offense has been more efficient recently. Thursday's match should be a fun one."
The Pack won two of its last three at home, including wins over Air Force and Fresno State. As Nevada looks to get back to .500 in conference play (a record that would put them in the top half of the conference), it will have to continue that hot streak in the final six matches of the season.
When comparing the two teams, Nevada edges UNLN in aces, kills and digs per set, but the Rebels have a slight advantage at the net when it comes to blocks per set.
The match will be live streamed on the Mountain West Network via NevadaWolfPack.TV. Live stats are available at NevadaWolfPack.com.
