SALT LAKE CITY – Senior
Claudia Herrero has advanced to the semifinals at the ITA Regionals after another singles victory on Friday afternoon. Herrero also earned another doubles victory with teammate and fellow senior
Blaga Delic.
Herrero defeated Kate Cusick from BYU 6-2, 2-6, and 6-2 to advance to the semifinals, and is the last member of the Wolf Pack still competing in the tournament. The senior is now 9-4 in singles matches this fall, and will face freshman Linda Huang tomorrow with a trip to the finals on the line.
Delic and Herrero made it to the quarterfinals of the doubles bracket when they took down Northern Arizona's Chiara Tomasetti and Hanneke Lodewijks 8-2. The tandem could not advance to the semifinals however, as they fell to Hada Chang and Julia O'Loughlin from the University of Denver 8-6. Herrero and Delic finished the tournament 3-1 as a duo in the doubles bracket.
Herrero will play her singles match and look to advance to the finals tomorrow morning. Follow the team on Twitter to keep up with its progress this fall.
